IND vs ZIM Going to cherish this one – Shubman Gill After His Maiden Century

A 22-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab had a fantastic Zimbabwe tour. Shubham Gill who vice-captained the Indian cricket team in the Under-19 World Cup 2018 also was a player of the tournament for his 372 runs with a staggering average of 124.0 and had beaten Sachin Tendulkar’s record of highest individual scorer for India in Zimbabwe in ODI.

Shubham Gill while breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record with his flamboyant batting display scored 130 runs from 97 deliveries hitting 15 boundaries and one six. Gill’s batting was eye-pleasing with shots all around the ground he had a few nervous moments in the 90s before reaching his maiden hundred.

He scored more than 50 runs for the second time in 3 matches. In the third ODI (IND vs ZIM 3rd ODI), India scored 289 for 8 in 50 overs after winning the toss and playing first. Shubman Gill got out after scoring 130 runs. This is an initial century of his international career span. He completed his century in 82 balls including 12 fours. Earlier, he had scored an unbeaten 82 in the earliest match of the series and gave the team a big win by 10 wickets. Now, the Indian team is leading 2-0 in the series. So far in the series, Zimbabwe’s team has not been able to reach 200 runs in any match.

22-year-old young batsman Shubman Gill has made a great debut in his ODI career. He is playing only his 9th match. He has scored one century and 3 half-centuries. Now the biggest innings have been played. The average is over 70. Earlier, 98 not out was the biggest innings. He was part of the team that won the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018. Then in December 2018, he played the biggest innings of 268 runs in a first-class career. Now in 2022, he scored the first century of his international career.

Shubham Gill begin his list A career in 2016-17 in Vijay Hazare Trophy and had a first-class debut in Ranji Trophy against Bengal in 2017-18. Shubhman Gill was awarded Best Junior Cricketer for two consecutive years 2013-14 and 2014-15 by BCCI making him an obvious contender for the Under-19 team. Once he was picked for a junior team he never looked back. When England’s junior team toured India he played a major role in the team’s 3-1 win scoring 351 runs in 4 innings also Shubham Gill top scored again when the Indian team whitewashed England  5-0.
