Jonathan Trott named as new Afghanistan cricket Coach

All the cricket teams have some changes going on. As the roster changes, so do the experienced coaches guiding the team. Every team needs a good and experienced guide. If the coach is from another country, the players benefit greatly from his training methods and techniques. Currently, the Afghanistan Cricket Team has taken a decision regarding its cricket team.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed former England batsman Jonathan Trott as the new head coach of the men’s team. Before Trott, Graham was appointed coach of Afghanistan in April this year. However, he could not join the team due to some personal reasons. Now Trott has been appointed as the head coach.

Trott will take charge of Afghanistan’s tour of Ireland in August. He has experience in coaching and also worked with England Men’s Team, England Lions, and Under-19 Team. Apart from this, Trott was also the batting consultant for Scotland during the 2021 T20 World Cup. Earlier, former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener was the head coach of Afghanistan. His two-year tenure was completed in November last year. After this, he decided to resign from this post.

41-year-old Trott played 52 Tests, 68 ODIs, and seven T20 Internationals for England. He has 3835 runs at an average of 44.08 in Tests, 2819 runs at an average of 51.25 in ODIs, and 138 runs at an average of 23 in T20Is. Trott also took five wickets in Tests and two wickets in ODIs.

Trott said – I can’t wait to work with a group of players who clearly want to take cricket for their country to the next level. It will make the people of Afghanistan proud. The Afghanistan team will play a series of five T20 matches on the tour of Ireland.

Trott made his international debut in 2007. Then he played a T20 match against West Indies. At the same time, Trott played his last international match in 2015. It was a Test match and the West Indies team played against England at the Kennington Oval.

It is expected that Trot’s arrival will definitely benefit Afghanistan a lot. The team is also playing in the T20 World Cup this year. We wish that Trot can help the team to win the title. Thanks to Trott, the England team was able to win the 2009 and 2010 Ashes series.
