Rohit Sharma’s Indian cricket team will begin their campaign a day later Sunday in Melbourne with a match against Babar Azam’s Pakistan cricket team. The last time the two sides met in a World Cup match, Pakistan beat India in his 2021 T20 World Cup by ten wickets margin. This defeat started India’s slide and the team could not stop and was eliminated from the group stage.
This time, India, led by Rohit Sharma, has a chance to get off to a strong start against Pakistan.
Former Indian cricket team star Virender Sehwag believes Babar will be the top runner in the competition.
“Babar Azam will be the top scorer in this world cup. He hits beautifully. Just as watching Virat Kohli‘s bat makes me feel good, watching his bat makes me feel good.”
Sehwag’s predictions often come true. While discussing his cricket journey recently with Fox sports of Australia, David Warner recalled that Sehwag was one of the first to see his potential in the game’s longest format. Under Sehwag’s IPL captaincy, Warner has played in IPL. Warner expressed surprise when the former Indian star told him he could be a good test player.
I looked at him and said, ‘Dude, I’ve never even played a top-notch game. But he said: “All the fielders are around your bat, and if the ball is in your zone, you still hit it. You have a good chance of scoring. You have to always respect a good ball. You must always punish the ball that you must punish,” he added.
