Asia Cup 2023 is set to be held in Pakistan, Asian Cricket Council ACC had awarded hosting rights of Asia Cup 2023 to Pakistan. India last toured Pakistan almost 14 years ago. In 2008 India played its last match on Pakistan soil in Asia Cup 2008. After the 26 November, Mumbai attack in 2009 bilateral series between India and Pakistan was canceled.
On Tuesday BCCI sectary Jay Shah hinted that they will prefer to play Asia Cup 2023 in a neutral venue. After this statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and members were upset about the BCCI Secretary stand.
PCB official said ” We are surprised by the timing of the BCCI secretary statement as Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled in September almost a year to go. ”
PCB is aware of the issue of India not traveling to Pakistan but no one expects any statement on this early. PCB explained teams like Australia, England West Indies had toured Pakistan recently and had played Test as well as One Day Internationals.
PCB Ramiz Raja will send a strong letter to ACC on this matter and is even planning to give up ACC membership and threaten to pull out of the World Cup.
